Composing for commercials is a tricky job. Sometimes all a commercial needs in order to deliver its message is a catchy jingle in which the product's name is pronounced over and over again. But sometimes a commecial is like a little film. In my long career I've had the privilege to do both: I've composed many catchy tunes which were left with the listeners long after they've listened to it, and I've composed music for sophisticated commercials in which I had to work as if I was working on music for a film – in these occasions I composed dramatic, plot-moving music which helped the commercial stay with its audience as well as those catchy jingles.
